Famous couplets (اشعار)
khoob parda hai ke chilman se lage baithe hain / saaf chhupte bhi nahin saamne aate bhi nahin
What a fine veil — they sit right against the screen: neither hiding completely, nor coming into view.
lutf wo ishq mein paaye hain ke ji jaanta hai / ranj bhi aise uthaaye hain ke ji jaanta hai
Such joys I have found in love as only my heart can know — and such sorrows too I have borne as only my heart can know.
uzr aane mein bhi hai aur bulaate bhi nahin / baais-e-tark-e-mulaaqaat bataate bhi nahin
You make excuses for coming, yet you do not call me either — nor will you tell me the reason for ending our meetings.
khaatir se ya lihaaz se main maan to gaya / jhooti qasam se aap ka eemaan to gaya
Out of regard, I let myself believe you — but with that false oath, your faith is undone.
